CAPABILITIES · REVENUE CONVERSION
Most sales processes discover the problem after the meeting.
We do it before.
That single change reorders what happens downstream — who you prioritize, what you send, how the first conversation opens, and how much of the buyer's time is spent educating you. It is also the reason our own pipeline works the way it does, which is why clients began asking about the system behind it.
THE INVERSION
THE CONVENTIONAL SEQUENCE
Build a list
Industry, size and geography. Firmographics identify who might fit, but not why a conversation should happen now.
Reach out
A broad value proposition, because little account-specific evidence has been developed yet.
Discovery call
The prospect spends much of the first meeting supplying context that could have been researched beforehand.
Analysis, then a proposal
The seller earns specificity only after the buyer has already given time.
The prospect gives before they get. Many decline before the useful part of the conversation ever begins.
THE FATHOM SEQUENCE
Define the ideal customer precisely
Not a segment. A specific profile with the characteristics that actually predict a good engagement, applied consistently.
Research before contact
The account-specific work happens up front, at scale, so attention goes where there is a reason to look closer.
Send the analysis first
A written brief on the organization's own numbers arrives before any request for time.
Then ask for the conversation
The first meeting starts with interpretation and judgment rather than introductions and basic discovery.
The prospect receives something useful before agreeing to anything. The meeting is about their business, not our capabilities.
THE INVERSION, DRAWN
The same four steps. A different order.
What moves is where the analysis happens. Everything downstream follows from that one change.

In the conventional sequence the buyer supplies the context, in their own time, before the seller can say anything specific. In ours it is already done. That is the whole of the difference, and everything else follows from it.

What the platform actually does
We use a white-label deployment of Fathom, a Wylie Enterprises product. It provides the operating discipline behind the inversion.
01
Holds the profile
The ideal customer definition is applied consistently rather than interpreted differently by whoever is building the list that week.
02
Researches at scale
Account-specific work that would take an analyst a day is done across a whole target universe, before anyone is contacted.
03
Builds the peer set
Organizations are compared with peers of similar size and type, with the comparison population visible so the benchmark can be judged.
04
Holds the provenance
Established facts, derived figures and open questions remain separate. What cannot be supported is not presented as fact.
05
Times the follow-up
Outreach begins around actual delivery of the analysis rather than an arbitrary timer, so the first conversation happens while it is still on the desk.
06
Keeps the analysis live
The brief is a point-in-time artifact. The Insight Center behind it incorporates new information, including what the organization later tells us.
What the inversion changes
FOR THE PROSPECT
You are not asked to educate anyone
The basic homework is already done. Your time goes to interpretation, context and judgment.
You get something before you agree to anything
A written analysis of your own reported numbers arrives whether or not you take the meeting.
The claims are checkable
Material figures are tied to source evidence, and where the record cannot support a conclusion we identify the gap.
FOR THE PRACTICE
Effort goes where evidence is
Accounts are prioritized by what the evidence shows rather than by who happened to appear on a list.
Every touch has a reason
The analysis gives each follow-up a subject. Nobody has to manufacture a new reason to call every week.
Qualified conversations start further downstream
The first meeting begins with account-specific context already established.
Where the pipeline actually leaks
The inversion improves the front end. It does not solve every revenue problem. Where an organization already has qualified pipeline and is not converting it, the diagnostic changes.
Qualification
Deals entering too early, inflating the forecast and consuming attention.
Stage progression
Deals stalling because exit criteria, next steps or decision process are unclear.
Late-stage execution
A weak business case, insufficient urgency, or no alignment with the person who signs.
Buyer alignment
Messaging and value proof disconnected from what matters in the actual decision.
On a $10M qualified pipeline, an eight-point improvement in win rate represents $800,000 of additional closed revenue without adding a single new lead. That is illustrative arithmetic, not a forecast.
WHAT THE WIDER RESEARCH REPORTS
We publish no benchmark of our own on revenue conversion.
We publish no benchmark of our own on revenue conversion. The figures below describe the wider market.
62% of respondents named budget pressure as their leading concern, against 31% the year before — a shift that changes how buying decisions are made.
RS Indirect Procurement Report, 2025
B2B organizations allocate an average of 9.4% of revenue to marketing.
Published marketing benchmarking, 2025
Indirect categories are commonly estimated at 20% to 40% of total organizational spend.

These figures describe ranges observed across an industry, drawn from samples that may or may not resemble your organization. We publish the source and the sample size for each one because a range is useful for orientation even when it cannot be a conclusion. None of them describe you.

A conversation about revenue conversion should begin the same way our prospecting process does: with something concrete. We can show you a real analysis, how the evidence is assembled, and where the approach does — and does not — fit.
